Lisbon Serviced Apartments: a 2-star hotel with an exorbitant price

Hi there,

In this post I will tell you about my experience in yet another bad hotel.

The first thing I must tell you is that there were no dramas during this stay because I decided not to complain and just leave a negative review. Even so, since in Portugal they are experts in deleting negative reviews, surely my review will disappear quickly.

This hotel is very far from the center, but it was the “cheapest” for the dates from June 23 to 26. Although it was the cheapest there was, it was very expensive for a two-star hotel and for the location.

We went by train from the bus station and the first thing we noticed was that the area where the hotel was located is very ugly and even dangerous. In fact, it can be seen that they tried to force the entrance door to the building.

In addition, the planes passed every 20 minutes, and it was super loud.

We arrived at the hotel, and it turns out that there was no reception and they sent you a series of passwords to access the building and the room.

Check-in is done on a machine and then you can access the room.

As we arrived before 2:00 p.m., we were going to leave our luggage in the lockers that are on the ground floor. We put in the 2-euro coin, it swallowed it, and it didn’t work. We worked magic to find someone who works at the hotel, and it turns out that the locker service is from an external company, and they have no way of doing anything. So, we lost two euros.

Even so, the one who attended us let us enter the room earlier.

As you can imagine, the room was not clean.

The baseboards were filthy, the curtains were stained from who knows what and the kitchen utensils were dirty.

In the bathroom the worst was the shower which had mold all over it.

The funniest thing is that in the kitchen there was a sign saying that you would be fined 50 euros if you left the dishes unwashed. Too demanding for the little cleaning they do.

Even worse than the dirt was the excessive noise that came from everywhere: the planes that passed every 20 minutes, the noise from the street, and the noise from the surrounding rooms. In addition to people walking around in heels, dragging furniture, and slamming doors, neighbors were also heard going to the bathroom and having sex.

Once again, it was another stay that made us love our house and value it even more.

I summarize the evaluation:

Cons

  • Non-existent cleaning and in the “daily cleaning” the only thing they did was change the towels because they didn’t even clean the room.
  • Excessively noisy. This was even worse than dirt. The acoustic isolation is zero, so you could hear all the noise from the planes that passed every 20 minutes, the noise from the street, and any movement from the other rooms.
  • The lockers on the ground floor do not work; they swallow the coins and do not close. No one from the hotel can solve the problem since the management of the lockers is carried out by an external company.
  • Terrible location.
  • The area in which the hotel is located is not safe.
  • There is no reception or anyone to help you.
  • Excessively expensive for the lousy qualities

Pros

  • Wi-Fi worked fine.
  • Good water pressure in the shower.
  • The quality of the mattress is not bad.

Hotel cost for 3 nights: 372,68 euros
