Hi there,
La Murta is a municipal natural park with an area of almost 766 hectares in Alzira, Valencia. It is one of the emblematic enclaves of the Valencian geography mainly due to its flora. It has a little more vegetation than the Cullera mountain and the Tello, but less than Mondúver and La Calderona.
It has an interesting historical-cultural heritage in which the presence of the Jerónimos Monastery stands out and is part of the itinerary of the Route of the Monasteries of Valencia.
We went to take the shortest route because we had left the house late. When we got to the parking lot, there were too many people.
During the route, there was not a moment of calm in which people were not heard.
We decided to go to the cross, which is what we had done a few years ago. We arrived, took a couple of photos, and immediately left because it was impossible to sit and enjoy the scenery in peace with all the people around making noise.
We saw a man who came from a place that didn’t even seem to have a road and then climb some rocks to go to another of the peaks. We decided to try there the next Sunday since, in that other part, there were not many people.
For the next visit, we went up the other side to reach the Cavall Bernat. There was little space to park so we expected that there would not be so many people. At the entrance I found an almond tree in bloom, and I took some beautiful photos.
The path was a little more difficult but nothing very complicated. Of course, we found social misfits along the way talking loudly, whistling, or playing music at full volume.
We reached the top, took the corresponding photos, and went down a different path.
Being the beginning of February, the weather was perfect, and the sun was super nice. There were almost 8 kilometers of light route.
Unfortunately, we will not go hiking in this place again because there are many people and not only that, they don’t have respect for the place where they are, so it is impossible to have some peace and connect with nature.
