The story of my “Arepa-hambur”

Hi there,

My mom was famous for her food, everyone liked how she cooked, and she loved to cook.

We had our routines and our moments; for each one, there was a special dish.

In the photo, what you see is a dish that my mother called “arepa-hambur”. It is an arepa with hamburger ingredients.

My mom made “arepa-hambur” at special moments. It could be for the beginning of the weekend, because she was happy or just to eat watching a movie together. This dish is something that always brings back memories of happy times.

Since I no longer eat animal products, I make the burger with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes.

Also, the arepa is super versatile and you can do it in many ways. I always make it roasted or baked to make it as healthy as possible. I put chia, oats, sesame seeds or flax seeds in the dough.

It always must have avocado. My mom loved avocado and I too, like a good Venezuelan, I add avocado to everything I can.

In short, the “arepa-hambur” in addition to being an easy, delicious and healthy dish, for me it is a tradition and one of the ways I have that my mother is always close to me, a way to return to those moments we enjoyed together.
