Hi there,
In 2016 I accidentally stepped on one of my retainers and it broke. That’s where my trauma began to see where I was going to get another one done. It should be noted that since I went to live in Spain, I did all the medical check-ups in Venezuela.
I went to a place that Diego’s former boss recommended. I must say that the treatment was very cordial and for 100 euros I already had my new retainer. I took the opportunity to ask about some stains I had on my teeth (I am super obsessive with the whiteness of my teeth) and at no additional cost they removed them.
Then I went a couple of times for routine dental cleanings.
I began to see that I had a tooth half a millimeter lower, and I was already traumatized by the issue. So, I decided to put braces back on top. It was something almost imperceptible to others, but it made me bitter.
The doctor told me that it would be 4 months of orthodontics and she would charge me 700 euros.
The appointment is monthly, and I felt that they did not squeeze almost anything. I always told them to press a little more, that I didn’t care if it hurt. I had already been through 4 years of traumatic orthodontics in high school, so this was nothing to me.
Having told me 4 months, I had organized my long trips for within that time. In fact, in September 2019 I had planned to leave and never return to Spain. Seeing that the thing was not moving forward and that the 4 months had become 7, I told them to please hurry up because I was leaving the country in September.
There they began to give me appointments every 15 days. What initially were going to be 4 months, turned out to be 9.
Diego also had his orthodontics done there because the rest of the places we went to were horrible. Initially they told him 18 months, so in June 2020 they had to be removed.
In June, Diego asks when they would take them off because we had a trip to Turkey for several months pending and we were not going to leave until the braces were removed. After we reminded them that the 18th month was up in June, the doctor’s response was “I would leave them until the end of the year.” In other words, instead of 18 months it would be 24.
This already annoyed us because we live traveling, and we counted on the fact that the time they had told us was going to be real. They began to give him appointments once a week, but the discomfort was noticeable since they were trying to get Diego in when they really weren’t available.
In the end, the braces were removed in mid-October, 4 months longer than what he had been told.
Our orthodontics were surely the easiest cases, but the downside is that they have a working method that is the same for everyone. I understand that if it is orthodontics for children, it does not matter if it takes longer, but orthodontics in adults should be treated in a different way.
In conclusion, before Diego decided to have orthodontics there, we went to find out in other places and we were horrified, “dentists” with rotten breath, with crooked teeth, with yellow teeth full of tartar. All those who work at Covadonga Balaguer have perfect teeth.
I think this orthodontics is the best you will find in Valencia because Covadonga is an excellent professional and knows what she is doing; Plus, they are honest and have reasonable prices. The only point to improve is to manage adult orthodontics more effectively or at least explain well that the times frames are an estimate that will surely be extended.
Finally, something that I really like is that there are only women working in the clinic.
