Another bathroom renovation disaster

Hi there,

When the incompetent Paulo Correia finished the bathroom renovation, every now and then I would find a stain under the sink pipe as if water had leaked out.

With all the countless problems we had had since we bought the house and with the bathroom renovation itself, this was the least of our worries; plus, there was no sign of it being anything really serious.

After the house swap with the two psychos who came from Australia, both the shower drain, and our sink drain were clogged with so much hair.

When Diego was cleaning the sink drainpipe, it came out of the wall as it was only held in place with a bit of silicone.

We checked the sink in the other bathroom and saw that the installation was not the same and that’s why the water was coming out, because it had been placed incorrectly.

At that moment we thought of looking for a plumber to make sure that the problem was really solved.

But you know that in Porto scams are the order of the day.

I wrote to a plumber who had been recommended to me, he never replied.

I wrote to another plumber who was recommended to me in a WhatsApp group, but he never answered.

I searched on Fixando and the only one who appeared did not give me any confidence because he did not explain what needed to be done or how much it would cost me.

I wrote to the man who had fixed my bidet to ask him for the price of his service. As I didn’t feel like being robbed of 400 euros like the previous time and knowing that it was probably only necessary to change the pipe, I explained everything with photos and asked him for the budget.

I conveyed all this to him via WhatsApp hoping he would answer me via WhatsApp chat. That day he tried to call me like 20 times, crazy.

Even when I wrote him to please reply to me by message as I could not answer the phone, the man would try to call back 5 times in a row.

When he finally texted back, he told me the pipe was clogged and didn’t mention the price.

The pipe was not clogged and after asking him a couple more times, he told me when he could come to the house, but again did not mention the price.

It was clear that the guy was going to come again and charge whatever he wanted.

In addition, it seemed that this gentleman could not read or write and had had to come home to have someone help him answer the messages.

I gave up looking for plumbers because the task was becoming exhausting.

Then I talked to my neighbor, and he told me that he had finally found a guy who worked well and was doing several things for him at his house and that he would let me know when he came to Porto.

A week went by, and the man didn’t show up so Diego set to work to see if he could repair it.

He broke the wall around the pipe to understand how the installation was done.

We went to Leroy Merlin to buy a new pipe and an elbow which was what we thought was missing.

We talked to the technician at Leroy Merlin, and he told us that there was no need for a new elbow or pipe and that the problem was not that the pipe was cut.

He told us that the pipe should fit, and the water should not come out.

Seeing the pipes we realized that the problem was simply that the pipe that was in the wall was missing the rubber and that’s why it did not fit.

The retarded Paulo Correia had somehow removed the rubber from the tube and that is why it did not fit properly.

We returned home, put the rubber where it was supposed to go and installed the new pipe. It didn’t seem to be leaking any more.

We put a napkin underneath and monitored for a week, it looked like the problem was solved.

We spent about 3 euros compared to the 300 or 400 euros I would have been charged to fix it.

Mind you, it’s a problem we shouldn’t have had if someone competent had done the renovation work and apart from the price of the stuff and the trip to Leroy Merlin, the weeks we spent using the sink below and the psychological wear and tear of having a problem we shouldn’t have, it’s something you don’t pay for with money.
