Best Medical Concept: the clinic that exceeded my expectations

Hi there,

In today’s post I will tell you about this clinic in Porto that I love.

When I arrived in this city, I was initially going to Clínica Luso Espanhola for my aesthetic treatments and due to the incompetence of the dentist service and receptionists, I left.

In fact, I ended up going to court to get my measly 55-euro refund. After seeing the negative reviews on Google Maps and how mediocre the website is, I realized it was the right decision.

Since Fotona laser was appearing a lot on TikTok at the time, I searched for clinics that had it and contacted a few.

The best response was from Best Medical Concept Clinic.

I made an appointment for my Botox session and there I would take the opportunity to ask questions.

First, Dr. Pedro Santos told me that he did not recommend doing the Fotona Laser on my face because it would worsen my melasma. There I found out that I had melasma.

He prescribed a treatment and recommended ultrasound as it was a better anti-aging treatment than the Fotona laser. The ultrasound session was painful, although not remotely comparable to the torture that was the ultraformer session at Clínica Luso Espanhola.

I did like this doctor because he was very careful and delicate when performing the treatments.

Something that is also very important is that here the aesthetic doctor had a nurse to assist him. In contrast, in the previous clinic the doctor was alone doing everything roughly and if anything, the receptionists helped him.

I loved that Dr. Pedro had a conservative approach to aesthetic medicine and never proposed any fillers, he would only tell me his recommendation when I asked him something regarding my face.

In fact, when I asked him about the nasolabial fold, he told me that he thought it looked good, but that in the end it all depended on how I felt. That, if I decided to have hyaluronic acid, it had to be very little for it to look good.

Unlike the Ricart Medical Institute, which focused 100% on fillers, here the focus was on rejuvenation with biostimulators and ultrasound.

When I asked about the loss of volume and flaccidity of Diego’s cheeks, the doctor proposed first to exhaust the treatments to try to improve the production of collagen and as a last resort, we would think about inyecting some hyaluronic acid.

I must also highlight the impeccable and exquisite treatment by the reception staff and nurses at this clinic. I could not be happier.

Once I told them to please confirm appointments by WhatsApp so they wouldn’t waste time calling until I could answer the phone. I only had to say it once.

When I had to go half an hour early to have the anesthetic cream put on, you can’t imagine the wonderful attention they gave me while I was waiting.

In the summer of 2024 Dr. Pedro told us that another doctor would be coming to replace him since he was going to Vila do Conde. I was very anxious about the possibility that I might not like the new doctor.

Since I had already talked to Dr. Pedro about having laser on a scar, I decided to make an appointment with the new doctor and there I would ask him questions to see what feeling he would give me.

Dr. Diogo Semedo confirmed that he could continue with my melasma treatment and prescribed two more creams to add to the treatment I was already doing. He spent an hour unhurriedly explaining everything I needed to know.

For Diego’s face, he proposed to do 3 sessions with biostimulators and then we would see if he needed to do anything else. In addition, he told Diego that he had rosacea and dermatitis, something that no other dermatologist had been able to tell him so far.

In my case, we would do the laser for the scar every month until we got improvement. It was a very long process.

Then I had hyaluronic acid under my dark circles and microneedling with depigmentation around my mouth as that was the most pigmented area.

My eyelids felt a little droopy and asked him what we could do before a blepharoplasty. He suggested ultrasound with HIFU until the eye area was the way I wanted it.

In two or three consultations with the new doctor I loved him.

I also consulted at this clinic to follow up on my varicose veins and I found the doctor to be very good. I think that of all the people who had injected my varicose veins, she was the one with the best technique.

Another aspect that seems to me to be very important, especially when in Portugal the disaster and tax fraud reigns, is that in this clinic the invoicing is impeccable. At Clínica Luso Espanhola everything was billed as a “medical procedure” without any details, which I found very shady. In contrast, at this clinic every procedure is well detailed on the invoice and with the amount of material used. In fact, once they made a mistake in placing the biostimulator and at the next consultation, they made us sign a credit note so they could issue a new invoice with the correct biostimulator.

In short, since I arrived at this clinic everything has been perfect. From the competence of the reception staff, the cleanliness of the facilities, the humanity and empathy of the doctors. In addition, the conservative approach to aesthetic medicine which is indispensable for me.

Being Venezuelan I am used to the closeness and humanity of Venezuelan doctors, something I never found in Spanish doctors and that I have found in this clinic. Besides, after so many bad experiences since I arrived in Portugal, you can’t imagine the peace of mind of knowing that at least here I won’t have any problems.
