Hi there,
In today’s post I tell you what it was like to return to this hotel after having a good experience in 2024.
Here are the articles about the first time:
I wasn’t going to write anything about our return as I thought it was going to be more than what I had already written in 2024, but this time the experience was not very good, especially because I got food poisoning.
We chose this hotel for being “adults only”, having many vegan options and being focused on healthy living.
Last year we went with the idea of doing nothing and just relaxing, and we ended up doing a lot of sports and activities. We spent the day going back and forth between walking on the beach, taking pictures, eating, doing the sports activities the hotel had, sauna, and reading.
This year we were going with the idea of doing a lot of things and touring the island a bit more, and we did just the opposite.
The second night at the hotel I woke up in the early morning with a stomach ache, went several times to the bathroom and after a few hours, I ended up vomiting.
I spent the next day in bed with fever and a very upset stomach.
The fourth day I was better, and I was still able to walk on the beach and do a little bit of normal life.
From the third day of my stay, I was always sick to my stomach and although at first we thought it was because I had eaten too much the second day or because of a virus, I realized it was the food.
It’s not that there was some bad food the day I got sick, but throughout the week there was one or more of the foods I used to eat that were not fresh.
Every day there was something that tasted like it was going out of date. So, I stopped eating guacamole, carrots and other foods that tasted funny.
I completely lost my appetite and had to force myself to eat something.
The confirmation that it was the hotel food that kept me constantly intoxicated is that since I got home and started eating my food, all the discomfort went away.
In addition to this incident which was already enough reason not to return, the hotel this time let us down.
While last year we had been delighted with the vegan options, this year was worse than the year before. The vegan options did not go beyond rice with some legumes or sautéed vegetables. The vegan desserts were also lousy this year.
On the one hand our perception of the buffet this time was different as last year just having vegan options seemed great to us; and on the other hand, the quality of the food had gone down, and we saw that when we went home and looked at the pictures from last year.
We were given a room with a better location and a sea view, but it was in terrible condition. The floor joints were broken, the baseboards were broken, the shower floor was also broken. The room was in urgent need of maintenance.

This time the cleanliness also left much to be desired and in fact there was a booger stuck on one of the walls that no one bothered to remove all week.
The first day I sent an email to complain that the room had not been cleaned properly and asked for a deep cleaning.
The response was an apology email, two complimentary bottles of wine which we did not drink and a letter from the housekeeping staff apologizing.
Even so, the cleanliness of the room was not improved, and the floor was always filthy.

We noticed that they did not use vacuums to clean and only cleaned with a broom, so they were just spreading the dirt around.
This year they had changed the logistics of the beach towels, which also made the process of changing them cumbersome.
A second stay was enough to make it clear that we would not be returning to this hotel.
Although the island was the same, this time we saw a lot of people horseback riding on the beach, which also makes us not return the following year as we try not to go to places where animal tourism is done.
Last year every day we had a lot of fun with the dogs that accompanied us, and we took many pictures with them, but this year the dogs had practically disappeared from the beach.
The few dogs that were left had become fearful and distrustful, so I imagine they started to mistreat them to keep them away from the tourists.
